What is the Widows Center?
The Center is a superbly designed ministry center for widows.

Where is the Center located?
The Center is located in Sevierville, Tennessee, in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. It is part of a multigenerational Care Campus that also includes the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home, thus fulfilling the scriptural mandate of James 1:27.

Additionally, the greater Sevierville area that includes Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg has some of the best shopping, restaurants, and cultural opportunities in the southeastern United States.

What are the living accommodations?
The Center has 41 spacious two-room apartments with a full complement of conveniences including a kitchen, living room, and full bathroom. Each apartment has approximately 525 square feet of living space and a private balcony from which to enjoy the fabulous east Tennessee weather.

Who is eligible to live at the Center?
Christian widows of ministers and laypersons are eligible.

Is the Center an assisted living facility?
No, the Center is designed as an independent living facility for widows who are still able to care for themselves and can perform activities of daily living. Residents must be able to function independently in their own apartments.

What about meals?
The Center has a beautiful appointed dining room that will serve nutritious noon meals throughout the week. This mealtime is the social event of the day. For the breakfast and evening meals, residents may prepare light meals in their own kitchen or visit one of the local eating establishments.

Are there planned events and activities?
Yes. Spiritual, social, cultural, and recreational activities offer opportunities for worship, fellowship and fun. Residents may participate in these activities and are encouraged to organize other types of activities that interest them.

What about church?
The Parkway Church of God is part of the Care Campus and serves as the local church covering for the Center and its residents. In addition, there are other local churches in the area that residents may attend if they so desire.

As a resident, will I be able to volunteer at the Children’s Home?
Certainly! The Smoky Mountain Children’s Home is committed to making a difference in the lives of America’s needy children. They would be delighted to have you help them in whatever way you can.

Are there opportunities for ministry?
Yes! Besides assisting the children on campus and helping in the local church, there will also be opportunities to visit the sick and shut-ins and to assist the needy in surrounding communities. Residents may volunteer at the local clinic and food/clothing pantries.

I understand the Center will not provide assisted living or nursing care. What happens if I need this type of care?
The area has several good healthcare facilities and we will be happy to assist you and your family with placement in a healthcare facility if the need arises. Of course, you would be financially responsible to the healthcare facility.

Are pets allowed?
It is the aim of the Center that all residents have a comfortable living environment. Since some people suffer from pet allergies, not pets will be permitted.
