WHAT NOW LORD?
By Judith Moore, Director

What now Lord? Is the question seen in many widows' eyes. The hurt is so great, the pain unbelievable, but an unknown future must be the toughest. I am writing today to assure you God can take the empty places and make them full again. He can move you into a destiny to see your fondest dreams and desires fulfilled. The Psalmist wrote in Psalm 37:4, Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

In studying, I found the Hebrew translation of that verse is ?Find extreme satisfaction in the Lord and He will give you the fondest dream you have ever had.? Wow, the fondest dream you have ever had. What a wonderful promise! I have watched widows isolate and separate themselves from others because they could not face the future. I have seen them work nonstop or busy themselves just so they do not have to face their loss. Nevertheless, there is something about getting into the presence of God and seeing Almighty Jehovah as your husband that can give you hope for the future?not just hope, but also an expectancy of the destiny He has set before you.

Traveling across this globe, I am more and more convinced widows have been called into a destiny of Kingdom work. I witness the power of God in their lives and the favor He sends to them in whatever they touch. During my last trip to India I spoke to thousands of widows in such extreme poverty, and their little bodies were so frail and their spirits crushed. They have been devalued and cast aside by their society because they are considered of no use. Yet, God spoke in those meeting and said He was calling them in to their destiny, just as Jeremiah 29:11-13 promised:

11 "'For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." NIV God was telling the widows He wanted them to rise up, begin to call out to Him and seek Him on behalf of the nation of India. I wish you could have been there to witness the change on their faces and in their eyes. Hope bloomed where there had been no hope. Souls were lying in the balance of heaven and hell, and they had been given the honor of interceding for these souls. I saw a determination in those women to start to glean in the harvest field of the end times.

I believe there is a new awakening in the body of Christ. He is calling us forth for a last day's harvest. The churches are moving into areas that affect the heart of God. Widows are a very important in the strategies of the end times. So rise up, great ladies and. . .remember no more the reproach (sorrow) of your widowhood. For your Maker is your husband, the LORD Almighty is his name, the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth. (Isaiah 54:4-5 NIV)
