WATCHMEN THAT SEE GOD
WHAT KIND OF WATCHMAN ARE YOU? We are all called to watch. In Mark 13;33-37 we are told: "Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. It's like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with an assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back - whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: 'Watch'" (NIV)!
Jesus says to everyone "Watch!" It is interesting that He lists the four watches that had been put into place for the soldiers of His day to stand guard. Jesus speaks of yet another watch that is in the book of John, chapter 10 and verses two and three. It reads, "The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep. The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice". That's the kind of watchman I want to be! I want to be one that opens the door for the good Shepherd, so that others can hear His voice." God has called us to be watchmen.
During a time of seeking the Lord, the precious Holy Spirit began to speak to me about the "Watchman Army he was raising up!" The Lord took me to the Song of Solomon, chapter five and verse seven, that described another type of watchman. I read these words from His bride. . . "The watchmen [emphasis added] found me as they made their rounds in the city. They beat me, they bruised me; they took away my cloak (veil), those watchmen of the walls!"
I was amazed at my reaction to this passage. I began to cry and travail in prayer. I was grieved for the impurity of these watchmen. They were to be the keepers of the walls, to cover and protect. But instead they wounded her and took her bridal veil! I could feel the heart of God towards His Bride, His beloved, and those He was drawing to Himself.
Then He said to me, "I am establishing the widow as watchmen, I am raising up within her the 'watcher spirit' to take the land. I will give strategies to her for intercession. Not only do I give my ear to her when she prays, but I have enlarged her ear to hear me and the strategies needed for each situation. "Too long have the watchmen abused my bride and those I am calling to my side. Too long has there been wounds that bring destruction! I am reversing that now. I will raise up watchmen that will establish the borders. I will raise up those who will not compromise, those who want My will established on the earth! . . .Watchmen that will take the land in prayer and establish the borders. If the borders are secure, the land will be also."
In the second chapter of Ruth, we find that there was a harvest "on purpose" given to the widow that no one but her could pick up. We need to catch the vision of our leaders and undergird them. The church needs our intercession! There is a harvest to glean that is reserved for the widow!
What kind of watchman is God calling? To see God and His purposes we must be pure in heart. Matthew 5:8 says, "Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God." Widows, spend time with God in His word and in times of listening to His heart. Keep your heart pure, so that you can see Him and He will reveal Himself to you. That's what we long for, because we are called to be "Watchmen that see God!"
